With its 48 years of age, Kurumba Maldives positions itself in pole position as the first resort ever built in this beautiful part of the world. The island and the resort are situated in the North Malé Atoll. It is very well maintained, modern with absolutely “no wrinkles”!

We can easily say that, if tourism happened in Maldives we need to give credit to a visionary guy that despite what everybody else was saying, he decided to built this property and bring some friends to discover this true Maldivian Paradise. Some of his friends told him he was crazy, well today this man is the owner of a very important chain of resorts here in Maldives. Every afternoon at 6pm he goes to Kurumba to enjoy the sunset. These are the inspiring stories we love!

Kurumba is one the closest island to Male, just 15min by boat from the main Island and it is characterised by this beautiful gigantic palms all over its extension and a crystal clear water. Since our arrival we could see around the shore many fish, sharks and stingrays. 

Some people might say that its closeness to the city makes this place “different” from a little bit more secluded island resorts but, rather than cover the fact that you can actually see Male from one of the side of the island, they actually gave more value placing here all their amazing fine dining restaurants to give to this side a little bit more of a city vibe which we loved. From the other side of the city view part of the island you can still enjoy the secluded experience with your view completely focused over the infinite blue! You can easily say that they have it all!

Service is excellent and the property offers recreational spaces, water sports and kids club to ensure to every guest the opportunity to spend their time doing what they love.

Let’s talk about the food for a moment. From the buffet through the fine dining restaurant to the teppanyaki experience, the quality of the food was always high and consistent, also their cocktails and wine selection was good.

We stayed at the beachfront deluxe bungalow and it was just a dream. The room provides all the comfort you need. Coffee, Water and drinks all included in our meal plan which was the full board plus.

The Hotel organised for us the stingray safari and it was so amazing to swim with this incredible animals. We had also a visitor among them: a tiger shark! Thankfully we didn’t notice it otherwise we would had a heart attack! We’ve been told tho that they are very shy and they have a lot of food around the area so it never happens that they attack humans. 

All the staff of Kurumba Maldives made us feel home, everything was seasoned with kindness, great care, diligence and incredible ease. We definitely cannot wait for you guys to visit them too.

THE PROPERTY

Dhigali Maldives is situated in the beautiful Raa Atoll in the north of the Maldivian Archipelago.

The precess of building on an island is way cheaper when you cut down everything and you build upon it, but Dhigali Maldives wanted to change this trend and decided to put every effort and finances to construct the property around the already existing beauty.

OUR ROOM

We had the opportunity to stay in the over water villa where in the morning we got to see many fish, mantas and some sharks! No worries it is completely safe. These villas are surrounded by many corals which makes a perfect diving session right at your doorstep.

FOOD & DRINKS

Dhigali offers a Premium All Inclusive meal plan, where you get the opportunity to enjoy your stay and do not think about extra charges when it comes to food and beverages. We experienced it and let me tell you, they know how to spoil you! Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the Premium All Inclusive along with premium wine selections, spirits and minibar.

Since our arrival until our departure we have been so well taken care of from Kate and her team and everyone on the island was super nice and helpful with every little detail. They also have an app that allows you to know everything about the island, book your table or know where the next baggy is to get around easily! So smart!

THE HISTORY

This Villa has been the former Home of the famous Italian director and producer of Operas, films and television Franco Zeffirelli. The restaurant, The bar, the garden and every other corner of the Hotel whispered “welcome home” supported by the incredible service of the Staff. Everyone was impeccable and dedicated to letting us feel at home.

OUR VILLA

The room we stayed in was unique and part of the three rooms in Villa Bianca. A bottle of Champagne was waiting for us which we degustated on the balcony with the view towards Positano. Every room in Villa Tre Ville is distinctive, with special designs made just for each one of them. The mini bar completely complimentary.

OUR EXPERIENCE

Villa Tre Ville makes sure that the staying there is high class and luxurious, offering to its guests an experience that is intimate and discrete. The level of service is high end, from arranging a trip to Capri, a boat shuttle to its private beach club or daily boat shuttles to Positano’s city centre.

The General Manager Peter is a visionary full of incredible experiences and ideas. We got the opportunity to sit down with him for dinner and discuss all the improvements for the next season.

The Marketing Manager Daniela took us around to discover all the details of this beautiful place. Her kindness and her knowledge of the Hotel is outstanding. You could tell she was very passionate about the property.

THE POSITANO VIEW

Salone Bianca’s (in the picture above) Design is a spacious room full of light and is unique for the white ceramic. The terrace outside is covered with Maroccan style, deep relaxing sofa, bright coloured cushions and the signature view that never fails to take your breath away.

Maestro’s Restaurant offers a unique all day breakfast. All the dishes are prepared flawlessly by the Chef and his team, using only seasonal and local products accompanied by handpicked wine selections.

Emerald is built on a beautiful island in the north of the Maldivian Archipelago, specifically in the Raa Atoll. This property is an All-Inclusive resort, which means that when you come to the property the only thing you will think about is to relax. All restaurants, drinks, snacks, minibar are all included and you won’t be subjected to any extra costs. Don’t confuse it with regular all-inclusive package. This is a premium deluxe meal plan and you will receive only the best selection of food and beverage. It’s really hard to find something like this in Maldives. 

We loved everything about this place. Since the moment we arrived we have been welcomed with champagne right outside the seaplane and our personal Butler Dave came straight away to us to introduce himself, pick us up and show us around on his baggy. 

Every step was incredibly smooth with great care for details and outstanding service.

OUR ROOM

We had the opportunity to stay in the overwater villa with hammock, private pool and lagoon view. Our room was spacious, beautifully designed with many precious elements like distinctive pieces of art on the wall and the white marble in the bathroom. I must say that even the closet has been one of the most comfortable we have ever experienced so far. Very well thought through as the spaces were divided perfectly for the best usage.

FOOD & DRINKS

The resort has 4 different restaurants:

• The main “Aqua” Restaurant is set directly on the beach facing the ocean. The indoor buffet will be available for breakfast, lunch and dinner, which will include several different cooking stations each with individual international cuisines, including Mediterranean, Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Italian together with so many Vegetarian and vegan options.
• The “Beach Club Grill” Restaurant is set on the main beach also very close to the main pool area.
• The Asian Restaurant “Asiatique” is open at dinner also with teppanyaki show. 
• The “Amazonico” restaurant serves dishes that are prepared in the open kitchen according to Central and South American traditional recipes and it is open at dinner 

Executive Chef Aldo looks after all the food and beverage outlets and he does an incredible job at keeping the quality level and the presentation of the food on a really high standard.

OUR EXPERIENCE

Every member of the staff is incredibly trained to offer the best experience. Coming from an hospitality background we can totally see the amount of work that this property invests to make sure that every client won’t be disappointed in any aspect. 

Even when we had to leave, our butler took care about all our documents which we had to present at the airport since it was our last day in Maldives. We have been also given a “day room” which was basically another over water villa just as beautiful as the one we had before since our check out was around 10am and our flight in the late afternoon. This was the cherry on the cake.

WHY WE RECOMMEND IT

Emerald Maldives is owned and run by an Italian family and they work incredibly well to translate the Italian impeccable hospitality, beauty and incredible flavours in every corner of this resort. 

Everyone was incredibly nice to us, everyone remembered every guest name and I cannot deny the fact that we shared a couple of tears when we left this island. We felt home and we felt incredibly looked after in a very natural and Elegant way.
